Ensemble consisting of a dress, petticoat, and shawl.
The long sleeveless dress features a princess silhouette, an open back, and an elastic cage fastening secured with a ruby red silk clasp. It is constructed from four layers: an outer layer of ruby red tulle; beneath that, ruby red tulle embroidered with a net-like pattern of beads, sequins, and imitation crystals in various sizes and shades of ruby red, from which fringes adorned with the same elements extend; followed by a layer of ruby red panné velvet embellished with transparent sequins and ruby red beads; and finally, a ruby red satin lining.
The petticoat is made of double crinoline with a hem covered in lacquer red evening georgette.
Completing the ensemble is a large triangular shawl crafted from ruby red tulle, embroidered to match the dress’s second layer.
The look appears in the advertising campaign, worn by Natalia Semanova and photographed by Peter Lindbergh.
The dress was worn by Kate Moss on the cover of the December 2001 issue of Vogue UK, photographed by Nick Knight. In 2013, the cover was shortlisted by the Professional Publishers Association as one of the best covers of the century.
